A Super Blue Moon's Embrace: Navigating Dreams and Creativity
Beneath the luminous gaze of the super blue moon, I find myself immersed in a symphony of creativity, each note resonating with dreams that have evolved beyond my initial aspirations. The inception of Surf Soup as a single book has transformed into a series that meanders through my life like a river, every story an unexpected tributary joining the current. This unpredictable journey has led me to places I never thought possible.
Tonight, as the super blue moon graces the sky, its brilliance reflects the radiance within. But what exactly is a super blue moon? Its name carries a hint of celestial magic. The term "supermoon" refers to a full moon that appears larger and brighter in the sky due to its close proximity to Earth. This phenomenon arises when the moon is at its perigee, its closest point to our planet. A "blue moon," on the other hand, is a poetic label for the second full moon within a single calendar month—a rarity that amplifies the mystique of the night.
As the moon waxes and wanes in its eternal cycle, its phases mirror the ebb and flow of my creative journey. Just as the moon's gravitational pull influences the tides, my creativity surges and retreats. Intriguingly, the moon's mysterious allure finds its way into the heart of my stories, infusing them with a touch of celestial wonder.
In this celestial embrace, I stand at the juncture of Book 11, Volume 7, gazing ahead to Volume 8's promise—a dance-off with an octopus and Koa's enchanting hair adventure.
Finding Value in Two Goodreads Followers: A Reflection on My Birthday Weekend
As the sun sets on the day before Labor Day, I find myself alone in my studio, reflecting on my journey as an author. It's my birthday weekend, and while some may consider it a time for celebration, I see it as an opportunity to pause and contemplate the path I've chosen. You see, I only have two followers on Goodreads, but they hold a special place in my heart.
In a world obsessed with numbers, where follower counts and likes often define success, having just two followers might seem insignificant to many. However, to me, these two followers represent something far more valuable: genuine connections. These individuals took the time to discover my work amidst the vast sea of authors on Goodreads, and for that, I am truly grateful.
Writing can be a lonely gig, especially when you're undiscoverable amidst the literary giants. I've often found myself hidden beneath the towering tomes of others, wondering when it will be my turn to shine. But through it all, I've held onto a mantra - "no complaints whatsoever, thank you for everything." It's a reminder to keep my hope high and my spirits higher, even when the journey feels solitary.
I pour my heart and soul into writing books, especially those meant to inspire and uplift young readers. As a first-generation Chinese American, I have a unique perspective to share, just like the indigenous courage I admire. Dreams are indeed coming true, but in the midst of all this hard work, how do I find time to relax?
Yesterday, I embarked on a marathon day, starting at 4:45 AM and continuing until 10 PM. It was a day filled with writing, family caregiving, and unwavering focus. I had every intention of calling my friends, but the demands of publishing another book, "Surf Soup TV and the Magical Hair No Haircuts! The Botanical Garden Book 11 Volume 7," took precedence. There's also the pre-sale launch for "Surf Soup TV and the Magical Hair No Haircuts! Ocean Mane-ia and Hairylarious Odyssey Book 11 Volume 8," along with the creation of book trailers and the endless promotion on my author page and Google and IMDb etc.
In this whirlwind of activity, I've come to realize that sometimes, amidst the chaos of life and art, we overlook the small but significant things. I had thought my blog was seamlessly synced with my Goodreads account, only to discover that it wasn't. It was a humbling reminder that even in the digital age, there are still many places to update and maintain social author pages. Despite my relentless efforts, there seemed to be little traction.
