Surf Soup School is a place where creativity comes alive. Whether through storytelling, art, or movement, we help students of all ages explore their imagination, share ideas, and develop confidence. Our programs are interactive, engaging, and designed to make learning playful and inspiring.
Surf Soup School is a creative hub founded by Emmy-honored animator and author Donna Kay Lau, designed to inspire students of all ages. Our mission is to help children, teens, and adults explore storytelling, art, animation, and movement in a fun, interactive way.
From reading excerpts of Surf Soup books to drawing characters, creating mini comics, or moving with Prana the Piranha, every session encourages imagination, confidence, and creative expression.
Whether you’re joining a workshop, book club, or interactive class, Surf Soup School is a place to play, learn, and share your creativity with a supportive community.

Explore, Create, and Connect!
Open Studio is designed for teens and adults who want to dive into storytelling, art, animation, and creative exercises. Through interactive workshops, goal-setting sessions, and story-driven fitness with Prana the Piranha, students develop confidence, learn new skills, and connect with a supportive creative community.
Classes run on Zoom for 40 minutes, with hands-on activities, Q&A, and optional creative challenges to keep learning engaging and fun.
Read, Imagine, and Create!
The Surf SoupBook Club is for kids who love stories and want to bring them to life. Students read excerpts from Surf Soup books, discuss characters and plots, and participate in mini creative activities like drawing, comics, and storytelling exercises. Parents are welcome to join and support their child’s creativity.
Classes are 40 minutes on Zoom, interactive, and designed to spark imagination and confidence in young readers and creators.

We welcome students of all ages! Our Book Club is designed for kids ages 5–12, while Open Studio sessions are geared toward teens and adults. Activities are age-appropriate, engaging, and interactive.
All classes run 40 minutes online via Zoom. Each session includes a mix of storytelling, creative activities, discussion, and movement exercises (like Prana the Piranha fitness adventures!). Our goal is to keep every session fun, interactive, and engaging.
Each class requires a minimum number of students to run. If the minimum isn’t met, we’ll reschedule or refund your registration. You’ll always be notified in advance so you don’t miss out!
